As I sit here at my desk eating a healthy pitta while savouring the taste of the tikka mayonnaise, the words “Mayo is now banned” are ringing in my ears.
By God, Nicola, a girl has to have some pleasures in life. I’m hoping the fact I chose a brown pitta with chicken and salad might balance out the small bit of mayonnaise at the bottom of this finger licking lunchtime snack.
Dream on Bourke, but sure it’s worth a chance. Anyway I’ll know her feelings when I get my next round of food diaries back and I’m not expecting any congratulations for ignoring the mayo ban.
Nicola had us back in the saddle again this week, the spinning saddle that is. Well actually now that we’ve tasted and got a liking for this very hard but rewarding class, our bums don’t spend much time on the seat, but as the cliché goes no pain no gain.
It can be difficult to keep yourself motivated on these glorious evenings to get into the gym but the classes only last an hour and the feeling of satisfaction as the sweat trickles slowly down between your shoulder blades or the sits under the crevice of your breasts, it’s all worth it. (I’ve just made it sound like a Mills and Boon haven’t I with these flowery descriptions of where the sweat most likely appears during these spinning class. I actually missed out on the buttocks and down the back of the neck and God knows even our eye lids were sweating on Tuesday night. )
I can assure you there is nothing romantic about this but you can’t deny the effect the blood, sweat and tears are having on us as we continue in our conquest to achieve that elusive figure we’ve always dreamed of.
We’re now half way there and it was really heartening this week, amid the glorious sunshine and long evenings, to see such good attendance at Operation Alteration. This is testament to the level of service we are receiving from the guys at Castle Leisure Club.
I’ve been like a broken record over the past few weeks and my friends will probably hammer me over the head if I don’t stop preaching about how good this course is and what value for money we are getting. Anyone who is struggling to drop a dress size or learn the proper science about what and how we should be eating should sign up next time. Six weeks of your life for a life changing education in fitness and nutrition, now that’s something to be embraced.
I have to say I’m finding the after dinner mints are a great job for keeping me on the straight and narrow, that is during the week. The weekends are still tricky when it comes to eating healthily at regular intervals. I suppose it’s all about making lists and ensuring you have the right foods stocked up in the fridge and cupboards.
That’s where I’m going to turn my attention to next: having some healthy and tasty foods at home which I can muster up into a quick snack or dinner. That should keep my hand out of the cookie jar.
