The Irish Chamber Orchestra introduces an exciting Autumn/Winter Season, presenting as always, a rich body of diverse works with a variety of top-class soloists, which includes a stop off in St. Patrick’s Church Newport, Mayo.
On Thursday, September 8, Katherine Hunka directs Irish Chamber Orchestra in Shostakovich, Frost & Glass featuring Fiachra Garvey performing Shostakovich’s infectious Piano Concerto No.1, with solo trumpet performed by Colm Byrne. Symphony No.3 by Philip Glassis a truly exhilarating experience. In between, a world premiere of Trip by Paul Frost was inspired by his own daily thought processes and the wandering mind.
The ICO is resident at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick, funded by The Arts Council of Ireland/An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
Tickets are available for the Newport concert on September 8, cost €20 plus booking fee and are available from www.eventbrite.ie - the concert will get underway at 7.30pm.
