Tracy Murphy, up-and-coming artist and founder of Yellow Easel Studio, is partnering with newly opened Castle Books, Main Street, Castlebar, to launch her debut art exhibition.
Speaking about the event, Tracy said: "I am very grateful to Castle Books for their enthusiastic support of local art. I picked up a paintbrush for the first time before Covid. As someone who studied law and worked in human rights and government affairs, I can’t believe a hobby has led to the creation of Yellow Easel Studio and my first exhibition in my hometown. This would not have been possible without the encouragement of the wonderful creative and business community in Castlebar."
The launch of Tracy’s Luminous Animals Collection will take place on Friday, August 19 at 4pm. Speaking about her influences, Tracy said: "Connection is a big theme in my work, connection to loved ones, to nature and to Mayo. The Luminous Animals Collection is inspired by the colours and shapes of the West. My acrylic paintings have a geometric abstract style which are inspired by the traditional stone walls on my father’s farm in Parke, outside Castlebar. My vibrant colours reflect the sunsets visible from my art studio."
David Brennan from Castle Books said: "As a family run local business we pride ourselves on promoting the creative talent we have in Mayo. We are delighted to provide a space to showcase Tracy’s exhibition. We encourage everyone to call in for a coffee and enjoy her unique colourful art. The exhibition will run until Christmas."
