Local Heroes for Hospice group present Broadway with a Bang

Ballina Salmon Festival is pleased to announce a unique new event and a first for Ballina.

Broadway with a Bang will be staged on the night of Saturday, July 16 next as the penultimate event of the 2022 Ballina Salmon Festival.

The event will see the renowned, local musical theatre group, Heroes for Hospice, stage a spectacular live, open-air performance on the river Moy.

This incredibly talented group needs no introduction, having staged sell-out fundraising musical shows like Beyond the Barricade, Oliver with a Twist and Superstar at local, national, and international level in recent years.

In the process “the Heroes”, led by Lavinia Gilmartin, have raised over €60,000 for Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.

Never before has a live variety-style show like Broadway with a Bang been staged in such a unique setting in Ballina.

With the floodlit St Muredach’s Cathedral as a backdrop and the majestic River Moy in the foreground, the Heroes for Hospice will stage a mesmerizing production featuring the most captivating scores from the biggest shows to grace the stages of Broadway and the West End.

The waters of the Moy will be animated by the energy and colour of this performance while the remarkable vocal talents of the town’s finest performers will fill the night air with exquisite and much-loved melodies guaranteed to appeal to all ages.

The very best in staging and tech will be employed to pull off this sensational spectacle, with giant screens ensuring that the show can be viewed and enjoyed from all vantage points

Broadway with a Bang is sure to entrance the crowds as they mark the age-old tradition of gathering around Ballina’s upper and lower bridges for one of the best-loved attractions of the Ballina Salmon Festival - a breath-taking fireworks display that will follow the musical performance.
