Michael Ring, T.D. has today welcomed the announcement that additional funding of €126,000 has been approved by the OPW for works in Carrowholly under the Minor Flood Mitigation Works & Coastal Protection Scheme.
The OPW has provided funding under the scheme already for these works. Funding of €358,787 was already approved to Mayo County Council.
Works are currently ongoing at the site and following a request from Mayo County Council for additional funding, approval has today been given for €126,000, bringing the total funding for the project to €484,787.
Deputy Ring said: "I am pleased that additional funding has now been provided and I hope that these works can be completed as soon as possible for the people of Carrowholly, Westport."
The details of the use for the additional funding is as follows:- €126,000 (additional Funding ) for addition of embankments to the existing flood defences associated works.
