Defending Super League champions Ballyheane have stretched their lead out to five points at the top of the table in the Super League following last weekend's round of fixtures.
The Quigley Park outfit pushed themselves further clear at the top following a 2-1 win over Straide and Foxford United at home last Saturday evening. The 'Heane got their goals through Nathan Reilly-Doyle and Ben Edeh with Nathan Boukioud on target for the visitors in a hard fought encounter.
Kiltimagh-United the previous Thursday evening had pulled off another impressive win to keep up their good start to the season, seeing off Westport United 2-1 thanks to goals from Cormac Caulfield and James McGrath with Darren Browne netting for United. That win put Kiltimagh-Knock United just one point behind their opponents in the table keeping them in third place in the standings at present.
Ballina Town sit in fourth place in the standings after a 3-1 win over Castlebar Celtic in Celtic Park and now sit on 12 points in the league table. Benny Lavelle put Ballina Town in front on 15 minutes, but the sides went in level at one each at the break following a Luke Kelly goal for the Hoops. The north Mayo men reasserted their lead early in the second half when Lavelle struck home a penalty and Jamie Cawley made sure of the points with his side's third goal after a well taken effort to find the back of the net.
Glenhest Rovers pulled themselves further clear of the bottom of the table thanks to a hard fought 1-0 over Ballyhaunis Town in Beltra thanks to a Mark Forrestal goal, which pushed Rovers up to sixth in the standings and leap-frogging the east Mayo men in the table.
Claremorris look to be putting their slow start to the season behind them and moved to within a point of safety following a 2-0 win over Manulla in Carramore. Joe Slevin hit the back of the net twice for the Concannon Park outfit, to claim their second win in three games and keep their drive to move away from the relegation zone moving in the right direction.
This weekend sees two games down for decision on Saturday evening and three on Sunday in the top flight, with a big game taking place in United Park on Saturday at 7.15pm. League leaders Ballyheane will be making the trip to Westport for what will be a keenly anticipated clash. If the visitors can pick up the the victory it will see them move eight points clear of their hosts at the top, while if United can get a win they will move within two points of Ballyheane with a game in hand.
The other game on Saturday evening sees Glenhest Roves make the journey to Green Road, where a win for either side would be vitally important. If the hosts - who are currently bottom of the table - pick up three points, they will move to within a point of Rovers, but if the visitors get the victory, they will move even further clear of the bottom sides in the table.
On Sunday morning Claremorris will be looking to keep up their recent good run of form when they welcome the in-form Kiltimagh-Knock United; the east Mayo men have been one of the form sides this season and will be hoping to keep up that good run. Ballina Town will host Manulla on Sunday afternoon - with both sides locked on 12 points in the table in fourth and fifth place in the standings at the moment and another fascinating encounter is in store. The final game of the weekend will see Castlebar Celtic look to shake off their loss at home last weekend to Ballina Town, when they travel to Station Rise to face Ballyhaunis Town. The two sides both currently sit on seven points each in the standings, but Celtic do have two games in hand on their hosts also.
