Deeper, darker, more potent Powder House is back on stage

Following the release of their well received and critically acclaimed debut EP “The Predecessor” in 2020, Mayo band, Powder House is back and performing live on stage at The Ruby Room in the Royal Theatre Castlebar, on Friday April 29 next.

With their sound and identity refined and sharpened, the three-piece Mayo Indie band that includes lead vocalist and guitarist, Conor O’Shea, Bassist Brian McHale, and drummer/percussionist Luke Dunne, is delighted to be back on the road and fulfilling their ambition - having been formed in the summer of 2016 over a mutual love for music and a hunger and drive to gig.

In the absence of live music during the pandemic, the trio used the time to bring their artistry to a whole new level and is now releasing the first of a series of new singles during 2022, titled 'Years' - in which we hear a deeper, darker, more potent Powder House.

'Years' is a masterpiece in dynamics and atmosphere, rich in both its mellow, intimate moments, dripping with emotion, as Conor delivers his signature heart-wrenching vocals, alongside some crashing indie rock guitar crescendos. 'Years' is a journey - close your eyes, be transported and let Powder House take you to somewhere truly harrowing yet beautifully evocative.

“A baying gale howls through cracks in ancient stone, a mist descends, in the distance a baby cries. A desperate loneliness reaches into the soul, wallowing in thoughts of what could have been. It’s been like this for Years.”

Powder House have shared stages with acts such as Lisa Canny and most recently, acclaimed Irish singer songwriter David Keenan and the band has participated in various performances on both local and national stages.

'Years' was recorded, mixed and mastered at Beardfire Studio, Dublin, by veteran producer David Virgin and his sons Rohan and Al, who, in their collective six decades in music, have worked with the likes of Nick Cave, INXS, Cat Power, Billy Bragg, Leslie Dowdall and John Cooper Clark. Recent productions include All The Queens Horses (International Songwriting Competition Winners ), Patricia Lalor (now with Atlantic Records ) and alt pop icon RUNAH.

Powder House signed a deal with German Based Label FBP Music Group in March 2022. 'Years' will release April 22nd 2022 on FBP Music. See Powder House perform live in Castlebar at The Ruby Room on April 29. Tickets available on Eventbrite.
