Information talk for businesses and services in the North Mayo Gaeltacht

Gaillimh le Gaeilge is an Irish-language organisation which was established in 1987 to promote the use of the Irish language in Galway City, particularly in the business sector. Its efforts to achieve bi-lingual status have gone from strength to strength over the years and now many businesses and services in the city are proud to promote their native language. This has instilled in its citizens a sense of identity, self-esteem and pride, and has enhanced the image of Galway as a cultural destination. People who visit, recognize the visibility and usage of the Irish language in street and shop signage, in services and events. This unique selling point has also generated measurable material and social benefits for the city. Gaeilge Iorrais has invited Bríd Ní Chonghóile (Ardfheidhmeannach le Gaillimh le Gaeilge ) to give a talk on how the organization has developed and evolved to become one of the leading agencies in Galway City’s language planning and how its ideas can be adopted in other areas. This event will be held in Áras Inis Gluaire, Belmullet on Tuesday, March 15 at 8pm as part of a programme of activities for Seachtain na Gaeilge. They invite all businesses and services in the North Mayo Gaeltacht to attend for what promises to be a very informative presentation.
