Castlebar woman appointed to Board of Education Research Centre

Dr. Sharon Feeney, Head of Learning Development in TU Dublin’s Faculty of Business, has recently been appointed to the Board of the Education Research Centre (ERC ).

The ERC is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in research, assessment and evaluation in education. In September 2015, it was designated as a Statutory Body in accordance with the Education Act (1998 ). The Centre carries out research at all levels of the education system. Dr. Feeney’s appointment as a Board member was made directly by the Minister of Education, Norma Foley, earlier this year.

Dr. Feeney is an Organisational Psychologist and a Chartered Director, and has extensive experience working with public sector organisations on governance, transformation, change and development. She has served on the Board of the Higher Education Authority and the National Forum for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, amongst others.

Responding to the announcement, Dr. Feeney said she is both delighted and honoured to be appointed and looks forward to making a contribution to the challenging programme of work outlined for the ERC board over the next few years.

Sharon is the daughter of Martin and Marion Feeney, Turlough Road, Castlebar.
