Eclectic entertainment and events lined up by the Linenhall

A multi-faceted programme of events is accessible to local audiences in the coming weeks at the Linenhall Arts Centre. Inni-K is launching her highly anticipated third album ‘Iníon’ (meaning Daughter ) and a special gig at the Linenhall marks the occasion, on Friday, March 11 at 8pm.

The Dublin-based singer and songwriter entrances audiences with her extensive background in sean-nós and traditional song. Through exceptional collaborations ranging from jazz to classical, Inni-K breathes an entirely fresh experience into sean-nós song. With her ethereal vocals, deft musicianship, evocative lyrics and unique approach to songwriting, Inni-K is fast becoming a well-established presence in Irish music.

Oscar Dempsey’s art exhibition ‘Hubris.2’ an installation of sculptural works featuring creatures in dialogue with one another, inspired by the anatomy of hyenas as a visual focal point, will be launched at the Linenhall Gallery on Friday, March 11. This project followed a material-based process, using hand-carving techniques. Based in Helsinki, Belfast native Dempsey considers his role interchangeable between artist, scenographer and designer.

Lastly, the Linenhall is thrilled to announce the commencement of a comedy workshop series with Castlebar’s Ger Staunton, at Bridge St on March 21. A must for those who would like to learn how to write and perform stand-up comedy, this four-week course with a seasoned headliner on the Irish comedy circuit, is the ultimate starting point. Staunton has been described by the International Comedy Club in Dublin as “One of the best comedy writers in Ireland” and by the Irish Examiner as "Incredibly funny".

If comedy is a career path that piques your interest, or simply a bucket-list aspiration, this is the perfect introduction and a great refresher for those a bit rusty on public speaking after lockdown. For further details on all Linenhall events, please visit www.thelinenhall.com
