Coaching - helping you be the best you can be!

When we think of coaches, the world of sport most likely springs to mind; James Horan, Andy Farrell for example, coaches whose guidance has helped our GAA and Rugby teams excel.

However, there are also ‘people coaches’, and I’m one of those!

As a people coach, my goal is to support you on your journey of changing whatever particular aspect of your life you’ve chosen to improve.

What does that mean?

People coaches help you become the best version of yourself through enabling you to recognise and utilise your strengths and overcome the barriers or perceptions that may be holding you back, so that you can achieve the outcome you wish for.

Where does that fit into life?

Here’s a couple of scenarios: Perhaps you’re at a crossroads in your career - you want change but aren’t sure what direction to go in or even how you start to figure it out. A coach can help you clarify that path, boost your confidence, helping you make the change you want.

Or perhaps you’re someone who feels your life/work balance is out of kilter, caught on a treadmill, going nowhere - a coach can help you reset the scales.

Or, let’s say you’re a great strategic thinker and organiser at work but perhaps less confident when it comes to dealing with difficult or challenging situations/people – the 80%/20% rules applies – most of what you do or feel is great, coaching focuses on the 20% that you want to improve.

In essence, coaching conversations have ‘you’ at their heart. Coaches will never tell you what to do but rather use questions, suggestions, and various coaching methods to give you greater insight into yourself and the possibilities open to you. Coaching techniques will tease out your thinking, your perceptions, your fears, your ambitions, through encouraging you to reflect on your inner self. Once you have both clarity of thought and variety of options available to you – you can choose the changes you want to make, which will give you the life you want.

We don’t always follow the path we thought we would and it’s perfectly natural that at some point our lives get disrupted, turned upside down, we digress, or we question ourselves. All of these things can affect our confidence, knock us off track or upset our inner balance. Coaching conversations are confidential, non-judgemental, and safe spaces to share your thoughts, voice reservations, fears or concerns – the Coach’s only goal is to help you on your chosen journey of change – we’re your personal champion and have absolute belief in you throughout this journey.

Socrates says “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old but, on building the new” - this encapsulates the spirit of coaching. Some other famous person once said, “our lives are a journey with happiness the destination”.

Every person on this earth deserves to be happy and fulfilled, if you’re not, you owe it to yourself to explore what you can do to change your journey so you can live the life you want to live and be the person you want to be.
