Progress on greenway projects

There was good news for greenway projects in the county at a recent West Mayo Municipal District meeting with councillors being told that Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII ) had approved €2.4 million for the development of the Clew Bay Greenway this year, with €1.9 million for the Achill section and €500,000 for the Murrisk section of the greenway.

The councillors were informed that construction work on the Achill Sound to Casey leg of the project was currently ongoing, while the road from Bertra to Murrisk is to be progressed, but will incorporate a section along the public roadway to ensure the completion of the project. The elected members were told they will be given quarterly updates on the project and a number of staff members at Mayo County Council had been assigned roles to monitor the progress, with Anne McCarthy being the project transition lead to TII and Anna Connor the project liaison officer.
