The internationally renowned TradFest Temple Bar looks set to be one of the first major trad/folk festivals around the world to welcome audiences back in person once more.
Audiences will be able to enjoy extraordinary, intimate musical experiences across Dublin City Centre during the festival, with safety measures in place, including hospital grade air disinfection equipment. Those attending will be required to present either a Covid-19 vaccination or recovery certificate to gain admission.
Organisers are also currently selling to 50% capacity at each venue, and have re-scheduled the timing of each concert to fit current Government public health requirements. Each concert will now finish by 8pm.
TradFest Temple Bar wants to ensure that artists and audiences can be reunited safely this month. Temple Bar Company CEO, Martin Harte, said that the festival has a responsibility to help artists and audiences to safely reconnect after a devastating two years for the live event industry and Dublin City Centre.
TradFest Temple Bar 2022 artists will include Mayo band, Boxing Banjo. Hailing from the picturesque west coast of Ireland, Boxing Banjo bring an exciting and fresh sound to the Irish music scene.
Comprising four of the most accomplished Irish musicians, brothers Darragh and Micheal Healy along with Joseph McNulty and Seán O’Meara have amassed in excess of 20 All Ireland titles on various instruments and in singing, along with four world bodhrán titles.
They have toured extensively together and performed in countries including Russia, Germany and the United States of America. In 2019 they completed a 34-date tour of Germany and also made a hugely successful debut at the world renowned Milwaukee Irish Fest in the USA.
Through the combination of their considerable individual experience and talents they have created a unique blend of traditional Irish music and song, old time and bluegrass music.
Combining striking vocal arrangements with a myriad of instruments including button accordion, banjo, guitar, mandolin, bodhrán and fiddle, they possess “a startling degree of accomplished maturity” (Irish Music Magazine ). Their debut album, ‘Round #1’, described by Bill Margeson as “thoroughly delightful”, was released to critical acclaim in 2018. Showcasing the bands versatility, this album is imbued with a tangible reverence for their roots as well as more than a sprinkling of contemporary twists. Boxing Banjo will be performing in The Grand Social at 6.30pm on Friday, January 28. Tickets on sale now from tradfesttemplebar.com
