IDA Ireland has submitted an application for planning to Mayo County Council for stage one infrastructural works on the proposed Ballina Business and Technology Park.
The news was confirmed to Deputy Dara Calleary last week. Speaking this week in the Dáil, Deputy Calleary said: "I am pleased, that as promised by the IDA in earlier correspondence with me this year, a planning application has been submitted in quarter three of 2021 for stage one infrastructural works on the proposed Ballina Business and Technology Park.
"I met with representatives of the IDA recently and I am satisfied that they will work with Mayo County Council to ensure that the infrastructural development will be complementary to the wider development plans for Ballina and that the site, once developed, will be positioned and marketed as a suitable location for indigenous and foreign direct investment developments.
"I have been assured that a budget is available to develop the park once planning permission has been granted. I will be liaising with Mayo County Council in the weeks ahead in relation to the planning application and look forward to permission being granted and to works commencing in early 2022. I want to thank Minister of State Robert Troy for his assistance in facilitating my meetings with the IDA."
