Ballina man among magnificent seven for €50k prize

A Mayo man is one of seven Paddy Power punters fighting to be the Last Man Standing in the bookies’ nationwide football competition in which one lucky customer will walk away with €50,000 prize money.

Over 30,000 football fans from all over the country entered Paddy Power’s free-to-enter Last Man Standing competition last November. To stay in the game all they had to do was successfully choose one Premier League team to win each weekend, the only catch being that team could never be picked a second time.

It might sound easy, but with only seven people left in the running and 29,993 effectively eliminated, the competition is ferocious. The Mayo man who entered the competition in Paddy Power’s Ballina branch is known as Noel Knox. Mr Knox will now go head to head with six other Paddy Power punters this weekend.

Paddy Power said: “It all depends on what teams the magnificent seven pick this weekend but either way we’ll have our €50,000 winner very soon. All of them must be sweating at this stage. Fair play to them for getting so far in the competition – it’ll be a nice prize for whoever does emerge victorious.”
