Last week, Miss Ireland Pamela Uba and Variety – the Children charity of Ireland ambassador from Ballyhaunis, Mayo called into Rory Quinn Jewellers in Bridge Street, Ballina, to collect her jewellery pieces that were custom made and donated to Pamela to wear on stage at this year’s Miss World competition in Puerto Rica next month.
Pamela collected her 18ct Yellow gold pendant set with three round brilliant diamonds which is worn on an Omega chain. This bespoke Mayo design pendant is that of a contemporary Celtic star consolidated with the symbols for diversity and inclusion. This represents the present day Irish lady in the Modern Ireland of today. Pamela is the first black Irish woman to represent Ireland in the Miss World’s 70 year history.
Commenting on her magnificent jewellery piece designed and donated by Rory Quin Jewellers of Ballina. Pamela said: "I’m so thankful to both Rory and Maria for designing my jewellery that I will wear with pride that this year’s Miss World Competition. The fact it’s been made in Mayo by a Mayo jewellers fills my heart with joy and pride.
"I worked with Maria and Rory through the whole process to ensure the piece designed represents the Irish woman of today. I’m so grateful and thankful to them both and their daughter Jane for helping me in my quest to do my home county of Mayo and Ireland proud at this year’s event."
26-year-old Pamela Uba from Ballyhaunis is a medical scientist in Galway University Hospital. Pamela is also a national ambassador for leading Irish children’s charity, Variety Ireland. Pamela will represent Ireland at this year’s Miss World 2021 to be held on December 16 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rica.
