The Mayo meal in a box

The Volvo Ocean Race is the hot topic of the moment with huge crowds expected to attend the Galway stopover. Quick thinking Mayo artisan food producers are making sure they are part of the action with the innovative Taste of Mayo Box. It’s a tasting meal in a box, a delicious meal for one, divided into four sections: meat, smoked fish, cheese, and dessert. Costing just €7 for all the best Mayo has to offer, it will be for sale at the Taste of Mayo stall at the Galway Docks.

Speaking at the launch, Brian Quinn (Mayo Naturally and Fáilte Ireland West ) enthused about the project: “This is a really exciting time for Mayo artisan foods which are taking their place on the world stage. We are using quality food as a trigger to promote Mayo, yet another reason for people to choose Mayo for their holiday destination”.

A Taste of Mayo is supported by Mayo Naturally and Mayo County Development Board. It is also part of Gnó Mhaigh Eo’s Deanta in Maigh Eo (Made in Mayo ) campaign which includes both artisan foods and crafts.

The food producers in the Taste of Mayo box are: A Taste of Days Gone By; Kelly’s Butchers; Carrowholly Cheese; Clarke’s Fish Smokery; Knockranny House Hotel; Castlehill Catering; and Cuinneog Country Butter.
