Mayo County Council Arts Service is delighted to announce the recipients of Awards for 2021; Music Recording Assistance Award, Drama League Ireland Summer School Award and the Theatre Bursary Award.
Cally Anna is the recipient of the Music Recording Assistance Award, Ann Fahy and Sighle Hughes are the recipients of the Drama League Ireland Summer School Awards and Mick Donnellan is the recipient of the Theatre Bursary Award.
Cally Anna is a singer-songwriter from Castlebar. Her music spans across a number of genres including folk, rock, blues, ballads and traditional. Her album entitled Goddess in Me was released in October this year.
Ann Fahy is a Mayo based actor and member of the Ray Leonard Drama Group, Claremorris, County Mayo. She previously acted with many other groups including Garrymore Drama Group, Charlestown Drama Group, Claremorris Drama Group and more.
Sighle Hughes has a keen interest in drama having been involved in numerous amateur drama groups in school. She founded the Wilde River Drama Group in Ballinrobe in 2016 and has gone on to perform in numerous productions since then.
Ballinrobe based Theatre Practitioner Mick Donnellan completed the MA in Writing at NUI Galway in 2004. Since then he has worked as a novelist, journalist, travel writer, teacher and playwright and went on to work with Druid (2009 ) and RTE (2010 ).
