Podi Footcare opened a podiatry practice in Castlebar in July 2017 offering premium podiatry and chiropody services to the people of Connaught. Podi has a dedicated team of six people; Megan Staunton, Alistair France, Patricia McFadden, Daria Wolska, Sharon Costello and Niamh McManamon.
Megan, a native of Castlebar, graduated from University in England and pursued her podiatric career in St George’s Hospital within the NHS in London. Here she treated a wide range of conditions in general chiropody, biomechanics, paediatrics and much more. Whilst in University, she met Alistair and the couple had always talked about running their own business together. Having grown up in a family run pharmacy business in Mayo, Megan knew that she wanted to return to Castlebar to set up their Podiatry clinic.
In April 2017 Megan moved to Dublin and worked in a private practice setting to become familiar with the Irish podiatry system. It wasn’t long before Megan moved to Castlebar and set up a state-of-the-art Podiatry clinic on the Main street – offering a premium podiatry service in a step-free, wheelchair accessible clinical environment.
Megan initially took to the managerial and business side of the practice extremely well and explains: "I had no idea how much experience I already had in running a business. Having grown up in the Pharmacy and observing my parents and grandmother, I naturally fell into the role of managing the clinic and I absolutely love it. I also get to continue to practice my degree which gives me the best of both worlds. My granny, the late Ita Staunton, was the first to mention a career in Podiatry to me and I cannot thank her enough."
Podi Footcare has been well received by the people of Mayo and Megan, Alistair and their team at Podi Footcare extend their thanks to all of their clients for their continued support.
