In an initial reaction to the revised NDP, Fianna Fáil TD for Mayo, Dara Calleary has said he is very angry and frustrated at the lack of specific commitments to the N26 and to the Western Rail Corridor in the revised plan published this week.
He said: "I am very angry at the lack of specific commitments to the next phase of the N26 and to constructing the Western Rail Corridor from Athenry to Claremorris.
"These are projects that Fianna Fáil was committed to in our election manifesto and I and my colleagues from across the west had pushed hard in recent weeks for their inclusion in the revised NDP.
"Strong economic and environmental cases have been made and exceptional public support is evident for both- yet they haven’t been included. I will be expressing my anger directly to the Taoiseach and asking him to urgently review these decisions. I will be reviewing the whole plan in detail in the coming days and will prepare a detailed response."
