Almost €600,000 approved for nine LEADER projects in Mayo

Nine different projects have been approved for LEADER funding in Mayo totalling €588,583.

Of the nine projects eight, were approved under the Enterprise Development category and the other one under the Rural Tourism category.

Deputy Michael Ring TD stated: "The food sector is one of Ireland’s most innovative indigenous industries and is a vital source of employment in rural areas. It is very important that the Government continue to fund worthwhile projects of this type.”

The following are the successful applications: (1 ) House of EQ- Brand Strategy & Marketing, Carrowcushlaun, Ballina €13,051.82. Funding for strategic brand development and marketing for company which hosts on-line workshops for employees of various companies. (2 ) Wild Atlantic Pure Limited, Golden Mile Industrial Estate, Breaffy, Castlebar €36,828. Funding for the purchase of equipment and storage units for Wild Atlantic Pure Limited. (3 ) Deerpark Cookery School, Deerpark, Aughagower, Westport €191,257.49. Funding to build a dedicated cookery school and food tourism hub on a Greenfield site. (4 ) Kelly’s of Newport €77,279.25. Funding to install complete software/hardware system at artisan butchers to manage purchases, stock control, production, sales etc., and to purchase clipper machine. (5 ) Bean West Coffee Roasting Company Ltd, Westport Industrial Park €40,353.35. To purchase a range of equipment to expand artisan coffee roasting business. (6 ) Rachel's Irish Adventures, The Quay, Ballina €18,330. Funding to purchase electric bikes, a trailer and accessories for existing bike rental and bike tour business. (7 ) Hillcrest Home Bakery Ltd, Kilmovee, Ballaghaderreen €19,516. Funding to purchase new bakery equipment and for marketing and branding. (8 ) Mescan Brewery Ltd, Kilsallagh, Westport €167,276. Funding to upgrade of brewhouse including purchase of new equipment e.g. steam boiler and generator, fermenter, malt handling system etc and (9 ) Reilly’s Victuallers Limited, Main Street, Bangor Erris, Ballina €24,690. Funding to purchase new meat processing equipment to expand range of products at artisan butcher shop.
