TG4 is currently looking for audience members for a new show to be recorded this May in RTÉ studios, Dublin. The programme will pit the best traditional Irish dancers from around the country against each other. There are tickets available for 10 shows in total over the month of May so there's bound to be one that suits.

Cancer Care AGM
At the recent AGM of Mayo Cancer Support Association it was announced that €20,000 extra was raised in 2008 with significant donations received from the Cancer Action Mayo Committee; the Fleadh Ibiza; the Bra Chain; the Westport Rowing Challenge; Clare Island Walk; the DeCare Walk organisations; and individuals who took part in marathons, church gate collections, flag days, and golf classics.
A total of 1,408 people availed of the various services on in Ballina, Ballinrobe, and Charlestown centres and the number of people using the counselling service increased during 2008. Claremorris Gaeilscoil
A bear selling campaign organised by the parents’ committee at Gaeilscoil De Burca is on target to net €1, 500 meaning the school can now invest in a second interactive whiteboard.
The second interactive whiteboard will be used alongside 15 laptops that were recently purchased following another fundraising initiative. The parents’ committee’s next fundraising event is a cake sale that will take place on June 6 and 7 at the parish church in Claremorris..
Parenting seminar
Parents know their children better than anyone else but sometimes feel that they don’t have enough information to talk with them about such issues as drugs, alcohol, or sex. That is why St Brendan’s School, Belmullet, in conjunction with AIDS West is offering a free parenting seminar called School’s Out for Summer!, which will give them the opportunity to discuss their concerns around these challenges.
The seminar will be held in the school on Wednesday May 20 from 7pm to 9pm and will be facilitated by Lorraine O’Connell, sexual health co-ordinator, AIDS West, and Neil Wilson, drugs and alcohol education co-ordinator, AIDS West. .
Mayo Organic Group
The May meeting of the Mayo Organic Group will take place on Thursday May 21 at Bishop O’Healy Centre, Mayo Abbey at 7.45pm. This month’s event is a visit to the organic centre at Mayo Abbey, followed by a members’ produce, products and plants sale and swap shop. The programme includes presentations on such diverse subjects of interest as pruning, hot and cold smoking, compost, soft cheese and much more. Tag rugby in Claremorris
Lyndon Jones, development officer for IRFU, in association with the Mayo Sports Partnership is running a four week tag rugby programme in Claremorris on the astroturf starting on Monday May 18 at 8.30pm.
Tag rugby is great fun for men and women. It is non contact but a great workout in a fun team atmosphere. You don’t have to have any previous experience, just go along and enjoy. Contact Joanne Quirke for further details on 087 293 1965.
