Michael Ring TD has welcomed the announcement that funding has been allocated to two projects in Mayo through the LEADER Programme. The funding is as follows: €135,429 for Darragh McGee, from Newport, to purpose-build a wheelchair accessible boat for angling, tours etc; and €46,000 for Mayo Communities Caring for Water – to deliver a training programme to community/voluntary groups in Mayo on conserving and protecting water/water bodies. Deputy Ring said: "I’m delighted that this funding is being provided through the LEADER Programme. I hope that the venture to provide fully wheelchair accessible angling is a huge success for the promoter. It is innovative and inclusive and I wish him every success. On the conservation project, this training programme is timely as we all recognise how important our water resources are."
