Dillon confirms Minister Humphreys to visit Mayo next week

Fine Gael TD for Mayo, Alan Dillon, has received confirmation from Rural and Community Development Minister, Heather Humphreys, that she will be visiting Mayo on Monday, May 31.

Minister Humphreys outlined to Deputy Dillon that she will travel to Swinford to open the Digiwest Hub at the Old Swinford Courthouse developed in conjunction with the Western Development Commission. Minister Humphreys will also be launching the National Hub Network in Swinford on the same day.

Speaking in Dáil Éireann, Minister Humphreys said: "I look forward to visiting County Mayo next Monday to launch the National Hub Network in Swinford, when I will also be officially opening the new Swinford Digital West Hub.

"I am delighted my Department has been able to support the development of that hub under our rural regeneration fund. An 18th century courthouse has been refurbished into a hub, so not alone is the fund supporting remote working and enabling people to work locally in the west, it is giving an old building a new, 21st century use."

Deputy Dillon concluded: "I look forward to welcoming Minister Humphreys to Mayo next week to see what will be a national flagship piece of remote working infrastructure located in our county.

"The aim of the hub is to provide a resource to local entrepreneurs, workers, and communities in providing a high quality workspace with high-speed telecommunications capacity.

"Office spaces available include two-desk, three-desk and four-desk options. There is also the added use of a kitchenette, common room, and a small meeting room, with a larger conference room available."
