The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, announced almost €1.1 million to support a range of capital works on our offshore islands. Mayo is a major recipient of this islands funding and will benefit Clare Island, Inishturk and Inishbiggle with €747,000 awarded to three Mayo islands including refurbishment works at Old Roonagh Pier; €506,700 for Clare Island, €45,000 for Inishturk, and €55,800 for Inishbiggle Island.
Deputy Michael Ring stated: "I am pleased to see this level of funding being allocated to our offshore islands. This funding will result in very important works being carried out on our islands such as resurfacing of island roads. The works will greatly benefit the island communities, as well as those visiting these beautiful locations”
Deputy Alan Dillon said: “This funding of €747,000 will be a massive benefit to our island communities by funding improvements to roads, piers and slipways. The majority of works in Mayo relates to roads improvements, development plans and pier refurbishment works.
