Cllr Annie May Reape put forward a notice of motion before the April meeting of the Ballina Municipal District, calling on Mayo County Council to erect a plaque on Pearse Street in memory of the late PJ Ruttledge.
Ruttledge was a a former TD, Minister for Justice and county councillor along with a being a soldier in the War of Independence and Civil war, as well as working as a solicitor. Her motion was seconded by Cllr Michael Loftus and was backed by the other elected members.
