Fine Gael Westport-based councillor, Cllr Peter Flynn, has requested that a housing strategy be placed as an item on the agenda of the May meeting of Mayo County Council.
At the April meeting, he said: “We are getting reports and it is all about social housing, but there is more to the council than social housing; we need to be thinking about young, old, affordable, dereliction and every single piece of it and I don’t see it happening. I don’t want to start a full discussion on it now, but can I ask that we have a full discussion on it, because it is too important a point to let slip by.”
