Approval given for raising loan for new training centre in Castlebar

The elected members of Mayo County Council gave their approval to the raising of a loan of €650,000 for the construction of a new Regional Training Centre at Lois an Circe in Saleen, Castlebar, at their April meeting.

The overall cost of the project is €2.65 million, with the Department of Transport providing €2 million towards the cost and Mayo County Council putting forward the other €650,000 by way of a obtaining a loan, which will be repaid at a cost of €26,000 per annum. The council said the loan charges of the borrowings will be repaid using the funds raised through training fees from courses at the centre and will have no adverse impact on the council's finances. The raising of the loan was proposed by Cllr Blackie Gavin and seconded by Cllr Al McDonnell.
