A 42-year-old Belcarra man, who was detected with cannabis and one ecstasy tablet in his possession, appeared before Castlebar District Court on Wednesday.
On July 6 2008 at 3.12am, Eamon Tuffy, Guesotian, Belcarra, Castlebar, was stopped by members of the Garda traffic unit in Castlebar, who after some observations arrested the defendant. Subsequently Tuffy was searched and a small amount of cannabis and an E tablet was found on his person.
Solicitor Aidan Crowley said that the single, part-time, welder, was a recreational user of cannabis. Tuffy told the court that he has not used cannabis since the arrest and that he did not know that the E tablet was in his pocket, which may have been there from a few years ago when he used to take the drug.
Judge Mary Devins adjourned the matter until May 5 2010.
