Mr Hynes outlined that since the end of March the harbour at Westport was handed over from Westport Harbour Commissioners to the Mayo County Council with the intention that the Westport Electoral Area would be an advisory committee. The town manager said that a formal thank you would take place for the Westport Harbour Commissioners in the near future.
Cllr Margaret Adams said she regreted the demise of the harbour commissioner, but hopes that an integrated development plan worked on by the commissioners and the council, which proposes the provision of a marina, lagoon, and bathing area would now progress under this council.
