Pieta providing support to those who need it

During 2020 Pieta delivered over 52,000 hours of intervention and bereavement counselling, answered over 70,000 crisis support calls and texts and directly supported over 600 households impacted and bereaved by suicide.

The service also reported seeing a 25% increase in calls and texts during December 2020 by comparison to the same period in 2019 to their Freephone Crisis Helpline (1800 ) 247247 and Crisis Text Line, Text Help to 51444.

Pieta responded to all requests for support to help their clients, especially during Covid, "to remember that we are here, we are with them every step of the way and that they are not alone".

Pieta continued: "To enable us to deliver our free client services we quickly adapted our fundraising, given the impact of Covid on our Darkness into Light event last May."

They lifted the awareness of their services and engaged with their volunteers and donors to safeguard the delivery of services throughout 2020 and into 2021.

Across all Pieta teams, they adapted and responded to the Covid environment and to prioritise clients' needs, especially during this difficult time.

Their three main centres in the regions that are open for face to face therapy are in Galway City, Merchants road, in Tuam on Bishop's Street and Pieta Midlands in Athlone.
