Reach out – people do care

The Covid-19 situation can be challenging for many reasons, with some people finding it more worrying than others.

During tough or stressful times, we may need to put extra effort into looking after our mental health. It is also important to remember that everyone needs help from time to time and there is nothing wrong with asking for it.

Reach out – people do care. If you are looking for support, there are many organisations and groups available to help. Don’t be afraid to find out what they do and see if they suit your own individual needs. Remember, we all need different supports at different times in our lives.

A group of voluntary, community and state-run organisations who are involved in wellbeing, mental health promotion and suicide prevention, known as Westbewell, has been set up in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon, supported by the HSE and Tusla.

They have developed a website called westbewell.ie, where you can download information on: (1 ) Support services that are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for example, (2 ) Numbers if you need them or other support services, (3 ) News and events taking place in the region and (4 ) Useful resource materials to help you be well in mind, body and spirit.

Things may be challenging but don’t lose hope. Try to focus on the things you can control. During these tough times remember to be understanding of yourself and others.
