MAASA helping Mayo people since 2012

MAASA was founded in 2012 by Mayo native Joe McGuire to help people in Mayo affected by depression, suicide or addiction, to help them get the support that they need.

MAASA recognises that loved ones of those indirectly affected also need support, whether it is to help them understand and recognise if somebody needs help, or to provide support for those bereaved by suicide.

MAASA intends to set up educational and support workshops and group sessions to faciliate these needs. They hope to open a new centre in Ballina and proceeds from their gofundme will go directly to MAASA to help with the renovation costs of their new centre.

MAASA receives no public funding and relies on proceeds from the charity shop in Castlebar, donations and fund-raising events. Their fundraising goal is €10,000.

They welcome all Irish Associations worldwide particularly with Mayo connections - to support, by donating in a little or big way on their Gofundme page, saying: "In doing so, you could help prevent suicide and save a life. Mayo Addiction And Suicide Awareness (MAASA ), are appealing to our Mayo community to support this fundraising initiative for a locally based charity."
