Sheila is starting a new Slimming World group in Claremorris

Sheila Mcloughlin relaunched the Slimming World evening group in Claremorris in September 2018.

Members were delighted with their fantastic weight losses and soon, word spread that Slimming World Claremorris with Sheila was the place to come and lose weight.

The group that met every Monday in the McWilliam Park Hotel (relocated to Claremorris GAA Sports Complex since onset of pandemic ) at 5pm and 7pm was so successful, with members queueing to get in, that an extra session was added a few weeks later at 3pm. In the last year, the members of that Slimming World group in Claremorris have lost a total of 265 stone.

Now, Sheila has been given the opportunity to share her slimming secrets again and she is delighted to be re-launching Slimming World Claremorris' Morning Group in the GAA Sports Complex on Monday, February 22 - but virtually - while current restrictions are still in place. Like the schools and all other businesses, Slimming World has also adapted and Slimming from Home has become very successful, with hundreds of members losing amazing amounts of weight during this lockdown.

Sheila started off as a Slimming World member herself. As a married woman with five children and working full time, there was little room in her life to be concerned with her weight, which was quickly piling on.

She had a doctor’s check up and Sheila was so worried when he told her, that at size 24, she was morbidly obese. He also told her that if things didn’t change, there was a high chance she would develop diabetes.

That was the day that Sheila decided to do something about her weight and the week after, she joined Slimming World. Sheila said: "In my first week, I lost 4lbs. I loved the food optimising plan at Slimming World from day one.

"At our weekly Slimming World meetings, it was great to hear about other members and their recipe ideas. I was amazed that I could still make my favourite dishes but just by making slight adjustments, I could make them healthier eg a pastry-free quiche or a pasta bake.

"Two months later, I had already lost two stone and couldn’t believe I was eating so well while losing so much weight. Today, I am currently five stone lighter, I have gone from a size 24 to a size 14 and have never felt better.

"I have so much energy now and walk 5k daily, I have gained so much confidence in myself. I love my role as a Slimming World consultant and to see our members lose weight and get healthier every week, is so rewarding."
