Friends First has announced that its chief economist, Jim Power, will publish a research report on the economic and infrastructural challenges faced by the mid western region, in June. The report will identify what the greatest threats are to economic growth in the west of Ireland and it will also examine what policy decisions need to be made to ensure more balanced regional development.
The report will examine statistics from counties, Mayo, Galway, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Longford, Westmeath, Offaly and Donegal. Friends First is also inviting submissions from any interested parties and Mr Power will be meeting key stakeholders in the region during the research phase.
Commenting on the report Jim Power said: “Through my work with Friends First I have met many business people who face significant challenges by virtue of the fact that their business is located in the west/mid west of Ireland. This report will examine what the greatest challenges are and what decisions could be taken at a policy level to enhance enterprise in the region.”
John Corr, regional manager, Friends First added: “Friends First has recently enhanced its presence in the west and we know that businesses in this region would like to see a more strategic approach to policy decisions which would help to maintain and increase economic investment in this region. We want to support business in this region and we believe that this report will identify some simple actions which could enhance the economic landscape of the region.” If you are interested in making a submission e-mail [email protected] by Monday May 18.
