Castlebar Chamber urges the business community to join up

When it comes to looking out for your business and your town there is no better organisation to be a member of than Castlebar Chamber of Commerce.

Under the presidency of Peter Glynn for the past year Castlebar Chamber has been working tirelessly for you, the business people of Castlebar, but it now needs your membership to ensure the Chamber has the mandate to continue with its 2020 Vision of Castlebar.

There is something for everyone in Castlebar's 2020 Vision, with no sector left out.

The priority areas identified, following months of consultation with the business community, include town centre enhancement, enterprise development, image and environment, and culture and events.

The 2020 Vision gives a clear direction of how the business community of Castlebar would like to see the town grow and develop. The Chamber's role will be to work closely with local Government agencies, elected representatives, and key business partners to influence the actions and strategies that will make the Vision a reality.

Already we have seen some action on the town centre development project with the submission date to Castlebar Town Council now closed. Castlebar Chamber, following discussions with local business, made a submission. Town manager Seamus Granahan has said he expects to see work start on the ground this year and he has assured the Chamber that funding is in place.

A sub committee of the Chamber is working on creating a new brand for Castlebar: Destination Castlebar, which will identify the essence of what Castlebar has to offer to tourists and visitors to the town. A nationwide marketing campaign will be launched around this in the coming months. These are just some of the campaigns the Chamber has been involved in over the past few weeks.

Throughout the year there will be networking events as well as training opportunities available to all Chamber members which will be tailored to help steer your business through this current economic recession.

Now more than ever your Chamber needs you and you need your Chamber. By the business community of Castlebar working together we can ensure that Castlebar continues to thrive and expand.

In 2009, Castlebar Chamber promises to work hard for the business community of Castlebar. All the Chamber asks in return is for you to support the Chamber by becoming a member. You can do so by contacting the Chamber office on Linenhall Street, telephone 094 902 4845.
