Homeopathy — preventative complimentary medicine

What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a system of medicine established in 1796 by Dr Samuel Hahnemann that concentrates on the care of the whole person by methods that are gentle to the body’s needs.

Homeopathy is complementary to other systems of health care, including modern medicine.

It is important that no patient stops their medication whilst seeing a homeopath.

What does it do and how do the remedies work?

The art of homeopathy is in understanding the patient’s symptoms and the science is in the matching of the appropriate remedy to those symptoms. Symptoms are expressions of disease within the patient and it is the patient who needs treatment, not the disease.

Homeopathy is about prevention. It strengthens the immune system enabling it to fight off disease without side effects. In modern medicine it is the drugs that are doing the work, not the body.

Homeopathic remedies are non-addictive and safe to use in pregnancy and infancy.

What does a homeopath do?

Different people react in different ways to the same disease. It is therefore necessary for me to take account of everything about the patient before the symptoms can be correctly understood. Signs and symptoms depend on age, general health, previous medical history and state of mind.

What happens at a consultation?

You will be asked questions about yourself — such as your likes, dislikes, fears — as well as your illness and also about the medical history of your family. The initial consultation will last an hour or more.

What does it help?

Homeopathy helps many chronic diseases: Asthma, eczema, bowel problems, migraines, psoriasis, hay fever— even those hard to medically diagnose.
