Dr Andrew Harvey has recently joined the team at the Mayo Chiropractic Family Practice after moving from his homeland of Australia and is pleased to be working with Nancy and Trisha, alongside Dr Sinead Hughes, in a practice which has been providing chiropractic care to the people of Mayo for four years.
Having been raised by two PE teachers, a balanced, healthy, and active lifestyle has always been part of Dr Harvey’s life. “I was involved in competitive swimming and surf lifesaving competition since age seven and first became interested in chiropractic as a patient, after a serious neck injury body surfing. I was inspired by the results achieved with chiropractic care for my neck injury. The holistic approach of chiropractic towards health and working with the body’s innate potential to express health naturally, made complete sense to me.”
Dr Harvey completed a sport physiology degree before completing a chiropractic degree. Dr Harvey has also maintained chiropractic care “has undoubtedly helped me perform optimally in my sporting interests and to achieve results such as having competed in a 5.5 hour Ironman marathon race in 2007 and won three Victorian State Championship gold medals in 2008”.
With both a chiropractic and sports physiology degree, Dr Harvey has had excellent experience working with sports injuries and with athletes who are seeking to achieve optimal performance from their bodies, and has also worked in two family based practices specialising in paediatric, infant, and pregnancy care for patients. Dr Harvey is also trained in gentle cranial and sacro-occipital techniques.
Chiropractic can be beneficial to anyone who does not enjoy optimal health, whether that is someone in a crisis state of pain which limits daily activities at home or work, a baby with settling issues, a grandmother with a gardening injury, or a local sports athlete looking to keep injury free and perform at his best. Chiropractic care can assist you to overcome these limitations of health and wellbeing to get the most out of your body and your life. Dr Harvey will give tips and recommendations on spinal and health care in the Mayo Advertiser on a regular basis.
