McHale calls on Mountside to make plans known

Claremorris county council candidate Gerard McHale has called on Mountside properties to clarify their intentions with regards to the proposed power plant in Claremorris. “I have been recently informed that Mountside properties are still considering Claremorris as a location for one of their four power plants and I am looking for them today to state that they have no intention to reapply for planning permission for this project in the Claremorris area,” said McHale.

He continued, “The Claremorris community has already made our opinion clear on this issue and if elected to Mayo County Council I intend to ensure that this plant does not come near our doorsteps. The detrimental effects of this type of development on Claremorris are huge and it would have a negative impact on our community, the health of our families and the future prosperity of our town and those communities surrounding Claremorris.

“I am today calling on Mountside and Mayo County Council to state their intentions on this matter and to clarify once and for all that this project is now dead,” concluded McHale.
