There were a total of 51 patients being treated for Covid-19 at 8pm last night (Sunday, January 3 ) in Mayo University Hospital according to the latest HSE Daily Operations Update.
This was the third highest number in any hospital in the country with 72 in the Beaumount and 55 in Cork University Hospital.
The number of new cases admitted to Mayo University Hospital in the 24-hours up to 8pm last night was three, with three further suspected cases admitted also.
The hospital has 11 general beds available, with two critical care beds also available - with no patients being treated in critical care beds in the hospital for Covid-19 according to the latest HSE data.
The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the county continues to rise at an alarming rate with 102 new confirmed cases as of Midnight on Saturday, January 2 bringing the 14 day total of new confirmed cases in the county to 753.
That left 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 population at 577, well above the national average of 498.8.
