Ballinrobe woman attempts mammoth 100 mile running challenge

A Mayo woman is taking on a challenge like no other by running for 24 hours straight, in a bid to raise money for Lake District Athletic Club.

Anne Jennings, from Ballinrobe, will take on the unthinkable task of running 100 miles to help the club accumulate enough funds to build a 200m athletics track at The Green in her hometown.

Anne’s '100 Green Miles' Challenge will take place on December 27 and to make it even more gruelling, she will run her 100 miles continuously around The Green’s 800m long walking circuit.

She will begin her journey at 4pm and run throughout the night, and she hopes to reach her target by 4 o’clock the next day. You can help Anne complete her mammoth task either in person or virtually by running (or walking ) along with her.

Whether you’re in Ballinrobe or a different county, or even country, you can all get involved by purchasing an hour-long running or walking slot, with all monies raised going to the Club.

To register to run, jog or walk and help Anne to complete her challenge, log on to eventmaster.ie and search for Annes100GreenMiles. You will also be able to track Anne’s entire 24-hour journey live on the Lake District Athletic Club’s Facebook page.
