Fianna Fáil Senator for Mayo, Lisa Chambers, has welcomed the announcement of €40 million in funding for Higher Education Institutions for capital works.
Senator Chambers said: "€25 million had been previously allocated in August and I am happy to see that today an additional €15 million is being allocated, bringing the total investment in Higher Education Institutions up to €40 million.
"GMIT has received a total allocation of €658,000 to be spread across both the Mayo and Galway campuses. Securing the future of the Castlebar campus is vital to our town and county and I am delighted to see more moneys being allocated to achieve this.
"I have worked tirelessly to ensure the future of the GMIT campus here in Castlebar since I first entered politics in 2014 as a County Councillor. I am glad that this Government continues to see its potential and further invest in securing its future," she concluded.
