Mayo PPN is looking for its 1,000th member

The Mayo Public Participation Network (PPN ) is the main link through which Mayo County Council connects with the community, voluntary and environmental sectors in the Community.

Mayo PPN aims to enable community organisations to articulate a diverse range of views and interests within the local government system, and to allow a diversity of voices and interests to be facilitated and involved in the decision-making process of Mayo County Council and other relevant bodies. The PPN has community representatives on Mayo County Council Strategic Policy Committees, Joint Policing Committee and the LCDC.

The New ‘Issues Form’ on the PPN website, allows Community groups to submit collective issues/concerns to the decision-making committees within Mayo County Council. There are over 900 community groups registered with Mayo PPN from each of the three pillars: Community, social inclusion and environment.

Mayo PPN acknowledges and values the community-based volunteer response that is taking place due to Covid 19 Pandemic and felt the need to capture the fantastic activities undertaken by Community Groups across County Mayo. The project was called Mayo PPN Community Response to Covid-19.

Six community groups registered with Mayo PPN were interviewed and videoed and this made up a two-part documentary, which filmed community groups across every part of County Mayo and covered Covi-related activities in the most rural areas. It was broadcast on iMayo TV-Sky Channel 192 and is available to view on You Tube and also on the PPN website www.mayoppn.ie

The PPN is the vehicle for the dissemination of events, surveys and consultation. Mayo PPN deliver a suite of free training to Community Groups registered with the PPN.

A key role for the PPN team is ensuring the structures and supports groups need are in place in order to support Mayo County Council, which was mandated to convene a Community Response Forum to coordinate Covid-19 Agency and Community supports for vulnerable groups and individuals. Will your Community Group be the 1000th group to register with Mayo PPN?
