The potential closure of a road in Islandeady for works on the new N5 Westport to Turlough road project was raised again at the October meeting of the Castlebar Municipal District this week.
Cllr Martin McLoughlin queried had any application been made for a road closure to the council by the developers of the project. Iarla Moran, head of the district for Mayo County Council, told the meeting that no request for a road closure had been received by the council as of yet, but he expected that one would come in next year in February or March time; when that happened it would have to be advertised and people would be able to make submissions on the issue at that stage.
