Modular unit to be delivered to Mayo University Hospital tomorrow

Unit expected to be in use by end of November

The new modular assessment unit will be delivered to Mayo University Hospital tomorrow morning Wednesday, October 28.

The first delivery is due at 5am and the full unit is expected to be delivered by 11am. For the duration of the delivery, access to the hospital via the swimming pool entrance will be restricted on John Moore Road.

Catherine Donohoe, Hospital Manager said: "This temporary modular unit is part of the Covid Emergency Works. It will increase our capacity and will mean improved direct access to hospital services for acute medical patients, endoscopy patients and patients with/suspected of having Covid-19. The additional capacity and new processes will help reduce patients’ wait time in our emergency department. We expect to have the unit in use by the end of November.

"On behalf of the hospital I would like to apologise in advance for any disruption that the delivery of the unit will cause tomorrow morning.”
