Mayo are on the look-out for a new u20 manager following the decision of Mike Solan to step away from the role he has held since October 2015 - he leaves having won one All Ireland and two Connacht titles during his tenure.
In his first year in charge of the side, Solan guided the Mayo u21s to an All Ireland title with a victory over Cork in Ennis.
When the grades changed to u20 in 2018, he once again guided Mayo to an All Ireland final - but this time his side was narrowly beaten by Kildare in Croke Park.
Solan said this week: "I would like to thank everyone who has been involved with us over the last five years. It has been the greatest honour of my life to be able to represent Mayo and to do so with the finest of people.
"I would like to say a special thank-you to the players who have represented Mayo with such distinction over our tenure. They always represented their county with the pride and passion that it deserves and the future for Mayo football is very bright.
"I would also like to thank all the clubs for the courtesy they have shown us in this role and for all for all their time and effort in producing players for us as a management team to work with.
"I will take a lifetime of happy memories and friendships with me and would like to wish Mayo success at all levels in to the future.
"Finally, I would like to thank my family, most especially, my wife Rosemary, for her unwavering support over the last five years."
Mayo GAA chairperson, Liam Moffatt, praised Solan, saying: “On behalf of all involved with Mayo GAA, I would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Mike Solan and his management teams for their hard work and dedication since they took the job in late 2015. They put in countless hours over the past five years working with numerous amounts of players to ensure they reached their full potential.
"There were many great days along the way, most notably their All Ireland success in 2016. That All Ireland success was a springboard for numerous players who now wear the green and red at senior level.
"We wish Mike and his family all the best for the future, no doubt he will continue to be a great asset to his club Ballaghaderreen.”
Johnson ends his Ballintubber tenure
After three years in charge that has seen him guide them to two senior county titles, Kevin Johnson has decided to step away as manager of Ballintubber. The Sligo native who lives in Galway, has been a key cog in Ballintubber’s recent successes, taking over the team in 2018 and guiding them to the senior title in both 2018 and 2019 and to the quarter-finals of this year's competition.
