Dara Calleary TD has been informed that the Crossmolina Flood Relief Scheme project team is currently finalising the suite of documents (including Environmental Impact Assessment Report and Natura Impact Statement ), for submission to the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform (DPER ) for confirmation under the Arterial Drainage Acts (as amended ).
Having raised the matter in the Dáil last week, Deputy Calleary has been informed that “the programme indicates submission to DPER for Q3 2020 and the project remains on schedule to meet this deadline.”
Deputy Calleary explained that the Minister for Public Expenditure & Reform stated: "While the design and survey work for the scheme documents incurred some delays due to Covid-related restrictions, the project team worked diligently to minimise these delays and they have since been completed.
"In addition, the scheme and environmental documentation has undergone a legal compliance review in order to ensure their robustness for the confirmation process.
"I am pleased that progress has been made but it now needs to be expedited and the project now needs to progress to construction in as timely a manner as possible", he said.
