A Ballina man who overtook a lorry on a continuous white line which approaching a crossroads, and collided into the vehicle as the lorry turned right, was convicted and fined €150 at Ballina District Court this week for driving without reasonable consideration.
On Friday October 3 2008 at 11am, Garda Patrick Garvey was called to the scene of a minor road traffic accident in Ballymanagh, Crossmolina, where Kevin Queenan, Ballymayock, Castlehill, Ballina, had hit a lorry. The defendant had attempted to overtake, however while performing the manoeuvre, Queenan noticed that the lorry’s right indicator was on and subsequently collided with the vehicle.
Queenan was issued with a fixed charge penalty notice but had failed to pay. The defendant, who has previous convictions, was convicted and fined €150 by Judge Mary Devins.
