We already know who five of the quarter-finalists in this year's Mayo Intermediate Football Championship will be with one round of group games to take place this weekend.
Into the hat for the last eight already are Bonniconlon, Mayo Gaels, Hollymount-Carramore, Crossmolina Deel Rovers and Ballinrobe.
The latter two have already made it out of Group Four and will face off this weekend for the prize of finishing top of the table and getting a seeded spot in the quarter final.
The other two teams in that group, Ballyhaunis and Lahardane, will be squaring off in Kiltimagh on Saturday evening, looking to avoid the dreaded relegation play-offs at 7pm. The east Mayo men have been narrowly beaten by both of the sides who made the last eight and will be favoured to ensure they finish in third place and end their involvement in championship action for the year.
In Group One Bonniconlon are already through to the last eight - the north Mayo men have won two from two seeing off Swinford and Louisburgh to book their place in the last eight for two decades and will be looking to make it three from three on Sunday in Ballina when they take on Kiltimagh.
The east Mayo men have been one of the nearly men of this grade for the past number of years and will at least need to pick up a draw to progress to the last eight this term, having drawn their first two games. Kiltimagh's greatest need might just swing it.
The other two sides in the group know that a win has a good chance of sending them into the last eight - while a defeat will send them into the relegation play-offs, so when Swinford and Louisburgh meet in Islandeady on Sunday there will be nothing left off the field by either side.
Mayo Gaels are looking forward to a last eight spot already having beaten Castlebar Mitchels B and Ardnaree so far in the championship - on Sunday they'll be looking to make it three from three when they take on Burrishoole in Castlebar. The west Mayo side have had a year to forget so far having been beaten by Mitchels B and Ardnaree this year and find themselves out of the running before the final round of games.
As to who will join Mayo Gaels in the last eight all depends on who comes out on top when Ardnaree and Castlebar Mitchels B meet in Foxford on Sunday, both sides have beaten Burrishoole and lost to Mayo Gaels so far this year and they will be evenly matched going into this one with it all on the line.
Hollymount-Carramore are looking to bounce back to the senior ranks at the first attempt this year and they have already booked their spot in the last eight having seen off Balla and Parke Keelogues Crimlin so far.
This weekend they'll take on and Islandeady side who are rooted to the bottom of the table having lost their two opening championship games. That means that all eyes in this group will be on the all west Mayo meeting of Parke-Keelogues-Crimlin and Balla in Clogher on Saturday afternoon - the winner will join the group leaders in the last eight while for the other it will bring their championship season to an end.
