The swinger himself is back in town

The legendary Diarmuid O’Leary and The Bards are back in Mayo for a show in the newly refurbished Western Hotel, Claremorris, on Saturday May 9. Don’t miss this live concert with two hours of the very best in music, song, and humour, on stage at 10pm sharp followed by the disco.

While they are probably best known for their comedy hits such as ‘Julia at Lanigan’s Ball’, ‘The Oldest Swinger in Town’, ‘How’s She Cuttin’’ etc, an equally strong facet of the group is their ability to render a wide range of more serious and contemporary material like ‘Shaney Boy’ and ‘The Railway Hotel’, together with exciting arrangements of traditional Irish music.

As well as the earlier hits, their two hour live show will include many of the eccentric, tongue in cheek, songs from their Comedy Hits Album like ‘Late Starters in Love’, ‘If I was a Dog’, ‘Mother Tongue’, etc, and material from their folk classics collections Bright Blue Rose and Song for Ireland. Another new album is due for release shortly. Tour details and all The Bards’ recordings are available from www.thebards.ie
